Will wearables replace Smartphones

Wearables will replace Mobile….

In this era, smart phone user is continuously growing across world. The statistic depicts the total number of smartphone users worldwide from 2014 to 2020. For 2017, the number of smartphone users is forecast was to reach 2.3 billion but its already crossed 2.4 billion. As this number is growing there is another trendy tech know as wearables is also increasing.

These wearables devices include biometric sensors, so they can monitor the wearer’s heart rate, temperature, breathing rate and more - providing data in real time for fitness. But these devices need smartphone as mediator for doing operations like make a call, give notification, connectivity to network and many more. Now Apple has launched a new Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE connectivity.

“To be fair, Apple doesn't seem like a huge advocate of this idea -- it treats the Series 3 as an occasional substitute for an iPhone rather than a day-to-day replacement” – engadget

Though the iPhone is required to do initial setup of the watch.

So, whether these wearables will replace the smartphone?

I Say “Yes” these different wearables will replace our smartphones. The technology is growing in rate more than expected. Many users use smartphone as a screen to display their content and processing power to do their stuff with internet connectivity. The tasks people manages on their phone other than call and messaging are – using social media, taking and editing photo, sending IM’s, watching videos and movies, playing games, browsing internet and using retail apps. Calls and messages can be done using the wearables as of now we need to take care of other to replace the smartphones.

Can we can replace these activities?

First, we need to see what all tech we have in our hands that can be used to replace and the future tech we need to build to replace. Let us take a view what all stuff are already in market and that can be improved further to achieve the smartphone less user.

Smart Watches:

This the reason we think that they will replace the smartphones as we can do all most all the stuff using these smart watches. As well these watches know us more as they keep track of our every step and feeling. With this data and AI working together will be the best mate we will have in future like well-known Jarvis and Tony.

VR like Oculus Rift

There these VR with built in Displays which can connect to PC and stream us the High Quality immense virtual reality experience. However, this tech is not that much mature to work with the todays wearables as it needs more processing power and hi speed connectivity to the devices. This will replace the Video and Movie watching on mobile for better. There will be more devices to watch video like wearables wrist band or strap with bendable displays. Another possibility is projection or holographic projection from watch. There are tons of possibility but for sure the holding mobile for video watching will be gone soon. This same will help us to fulfill or requirement of playing games with some physical activity as wearables came to make you fit.

Wireless Headphones

Apple and Bose both have developed wireless headphones which are compatible with the assistant in your phone. These headphones can do stuff without removing your phone from pocket. These hands free will be good enough to do most of your work by saying the magic word. All apps will be compatible with assistant in your phone/watch that can work using voice commands. All calls and messaging apps now are integrated with the assistant and we can perform these tasks seamlessly so in near future there will be sure we will replace the need of retail apps or social networking apps in the device.

Smart TV

These are already in our life and we use them daily for casting videos, watching movies, playing games with family, etc. Smart TV or Casting solutions have made us away from mobile screen time and we enjoy more with casting the content on TV. This will be another partial solution to replace mobile screens after VR’s.

Smart Homes

This smart tech available in market has its integration with the assistant in your mobile and operate as per instruction given.

More about future…

As discussed, we already heading toward the era of smart wearables or you can say smart assistive device. These devices with together will replace the smartphones need and we will have an assistant that will do all the stuff we do on smart phone.

Payments are done using the wearables, in future there will be authentications will be unique to the person by learning his style and biological data. The shopping list will be created by assistant as we speak and then assistant itself will suggest the best deals and make a purchase for you form your recommended application/vendor.

In future there will be more video calls over voice for official purpose and many people are taking calls from hands free this will lead us to smart phone free world.

Assistant in our device will be so advance that they will replace retail application from your phone people will just ask assistant to book a cab and assistant will do it as per best deal from different apps. All app development companies need to start moving with assistant compatible to be in race. There will be more business to the company providing assistant as they can suggest the things from sponsored application like google search engine it gives sponsored links at the top.

With smart watch, wireless headphone and assistant there will be very less need of smartphone tasks we usually do.
